Why I Infuse Lion’s Mane into Apple Cider Vinegar (And How It Transformed My Gut)

If you had told me a while back that two simple pantry ingredients—raw apple cider vinegar and Lion’s Mane mushroom—would become my absolute daily ritual, I might have hesitated. Looking at where I’m at today, the results speak for themselves: my belly has visibly shrunk, my digestion feels light, and my overall energy is through the roof.

The best part? I didn't get here by starving myself or following restrictive fad diets. Here is the exact story, the health benefits, and how you can make your own infused vinegar at home with just a jar and a little patience.

MyLeveling Blood Sugars & Tackling Cravings

The best part of this tincture has been how this daily infusion helps take control of my blood sugar levels. Before, erratic spikes and dips in glucose would leave me reaching for quick energy, but taking this tonic has smoothed all of that out. Mostly because my blood sugars are steady, I no longer deal with intense cravings for bad carbs, refined sugars, or processed foods. My body naturally asks for full, nutrient-rich meals, making it effortless to eat smaller, satisfied portions without ever feeling deprived or hungry an hour later. Everyday Food Philosophy: Simple & Satisfying. I have realized that when we go out for a meal, I need to be even more careful, as restaurants do not always carry the best quality foods.

I don't do strict calorie counting or restrictive meal plans. Life is too short, and our bodies know what they need when we feed them real, whole foods.

My everyday meals keep things delightfully simple. On any given day, my plate consists of three things:

  • A quality meat (beef, chicken, or fish for sustained protein and healthy fats)

  • A fresh vegetable (cooked or raw, keeping my digestive system moving)

  • A piece of fruit (nature’s sweetness packed with fiber and antioxidants)

I don’t limit my portion sizes—I just eat until I am satisfied. Pairing this grounded, nutrient-dense way of eating with my daily Lion’s Mane apple cider vinegar tonic changed everything. My body stopped holding onto excess bloating, my gut calmed down, and my waistline naturally slimmed out.

Why Lion’s Mane + Apple Cider Vinegar?

Combining medicinal mushrooms with raw ACV creates a powerful herbal extraction (often called a herbal vinegar or oxymel base).

The Health Benefits

  • Gastrointestinal & Gut Support: Raw apple cider vinegar provides natural acetic acid and probiotic enzymes that help balance stomach acid and stimulate digestive juice production. This prevents that heavy, bloated feeling after meals—a huge reason why my belly flattened out so noticeably.

  • Brain & Nervous System Health: Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is famous for supporting brain health, focus, and memory by encouraging Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) production.

  • Blood Sugar & Craving Balance: Vinegar taken before or with meals helps smooth out post-meal blood sugar spikes, keeping your appetite stable and preventing erratic cravings.

  • Immune & Anti-Inflammatory Boost: Both ingredients are packed with antioxidants that combat systemic inflammation throughout the body.

Be sure to make it yourself

Store-bought wellness shots are often marked up massively, filled with added sugars, or pasteurized (which kills off the beneficial live cultures). Making it at home costs a fraction of the price, gives you total control over ingredient quality, and connects you directly to the slow, natural process of herbal crafting.

While visiting the West Side Market in Cleveland recently, a vendor selling all-natural herbs told me she asked major mushroom brands for the exact ratio of Lion's Mane in their blends—and they refused to tell her. That was all the motivation I needed. From here on out, anything these wellness brands market to us, I'm making at home myself. Truly, we need to stop giving our money to these dishonest people.

How to Make Lion’s Mane Infused ACV (The 8-Week Method)

You don't need fancy equipment or a chemistry set for this. Herbal vinegars are about as foolproof as home herbalism gets.

What You’ll Need

  • Fresh or dried Lion’s Mane mushroom (chopped or coarsely shredded)

  • Raw, unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar (with "the mother")

  • A clean glass Mason jar with a non-metallic lid (or place parchment paper under a metal lid so the vinegar doesn't corrode it)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Fill the Jar: Pack your Lion’s Mane mushroom pieces into your glass jar until it’s about half to three-quarters full.

  2. Cover with ACV: Pour raw apple cider vinegar over the mushrooms until they are completely submerged by at least 1–2 inches of liquid.

  3. Seal & Label: Place parchment paper over the jar opening, screw the lid on tightly, and write the date on the top.

  4. The Slow Steep: Place the jar in a cool, dark cupboard. Let it sit for 8 weeks or more. Give the jar a gentle shake every couple of days to keep everything saturated.

  5. Strain & Enjoy: After 8+ weeks, strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean glass bottle.

How to take it: Mix 1 tablespoon of your infused vinegar in a warm glass of water every morning, or use it as a base for homemade salad dressings.

I am a rebel and just take it striaght I dont recomend it but its just what I have done the last 3 months and havent had a bad experiance yet. We are all differant so do what is best for youself.
