A Rich Apple-Vanilla Body Lotion for Deep Winter Hydration……

🍎 Apple Spice & Vanilla Glow: A DIY Lotion That locks in maximum Hydration….

There’s something calming about making your own skincare. It’s slow, intentional, and honestly? It is insanely healing for the soul and the body. When the weather cools down and everything starts smelling like warm spices and cozy sweaters, my skin always craves something richer, softer, and more comforting. Something that has a STRONG barrier to protect me over the colder months.

MY DIY Apple–Vanilla–Cinnamon Clove Infused Lotion checks all the boxes — it smells like the warmest fall hug and it’s packed with skin-loving benefits. And the best part? You can make it right at home using real apples, whole spices, and simple natural ingredients.

I am on this journey, trying to find all products from skincare to makeup to our food, and I have even taken a dive into our clothes and how fabrics matter when we are trying to align and find who we are truly meant to be. I know we are not supposed to have an immense amount of anxiety, depression, or overindulge in our intrusive thoughts. It is just not who women are truly meant to be. It can be so rewarding to get back to ourselves, even if it meant I couldn’t use my favorite lotion scents from Bath&Body, or That Paul Mitchel Shampoo that made my hair so shiny and smell so good, but I never felt like I could hydrate my hair/skin enough when using these products. It has been a journey learning how a small additive can shift our hormones slightly enough that we notice it, but we aren’t always sure the cause or how to fix it. We have found all this in our foods, but we can also forget that our skin is our biggest organ and absorbs what we are putting on it, and the beauty industry regulations are minimal, and the ingredients aren’t always listed, and can be hidden within the wording of the ingredients.

Stay and follow my journey on finding what aligns best for our skin as women and get us a beauty line that doesn’t want to mass produce a product but wants to create something with intention, a purpose, and in a way, the scent will linger for years to come. Let’s make skincare that feels like comfort.

🍂 What This Lotion Smells Like

Imagine walking into a kitchen where fresh apples are simmering down with cinnamon sticks, clove buds, and a splash of vanilla. That warm, sweet-spiced air that makes you instantly relax? Almost like fall came in and all of a sudden your whole house feels cozy and SMELLS like comfort after a long day.
That’s exactly what this lotion smells like — but softer, creamier, and more wearable. Carry that comforting scent everywhere all day.

Think:

  • A fresh-cut Honeycrisp apple

  • Warm cinnamon sugar

  • A hint of clove warmth

  • Cozy vanilla bean

  • All wrapped in a creamy natural base

It’s like autumn kissed your skin.

🌸 What Makes This Gentle Enough for Your Face?

Face skin is more delicate, so the key is infusing, not applying spices directly**.**
Infusions pull out the skin-safe, beneficial components without the harshness.

Here’s what keeps this face-friendly:

  • Low heat infusion (prevents strong irritants from forming)

  • Strained, clean oil without particles

  • Balanced carrier oils (almond + castor = non-pore-clogging for most skin types)

  • Shea butter at a stable ratio so it absorbs instead of sitting heavy

  • No essential oils — only whole-plant infusion, which is gentler

If your face tolerates natural oils well, this lotion can absolutely be used as a soft, calming nighttime moisturizer.

🍎 DIY Apple–Vanilla Cinnamon Clove Infused Lotion

A gentle, cozy all-over moisturizer

✨ Ingredients

For the infusion:

  • 1 small apple, thinly sliced

  • 1–2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4–5 whole cloves

  • 1 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla powder

  • 1 tbsp raw honey

  • 1 cup almond oil

  • ½ cup castor oil

For the lotion base:

  • ½ cup shea butter

  • 2 tbsp beeswax

  • Your infused oil (strained completely)

🧡 How to Make It (Beginner Friendly)

1. Make your infusion

  1. Add apple slices, spices, and vanilla to a small pot.

  2. Pour almond oil + castor oil over them.

  3. Warm on low heat for 1–2 hours (never let it bubble).

  4. Add honey during the last 10 minutes so it dissolves slowly.

  5. Cool completely and strain through cheesecloth.

Your kitchen will smell like spiced apple pie. Try not to drink it.

2. Create the lotion base

  1. In a double boiler, melt:

    • Shea butter

WHAT WOULD YOU ADD TO THIS SCENT RECIPE?

Adding dried cranberries and thyme to your infusion takes the scent to a whole new level—still warm and cozy, but with a brighter, more herbal twist. The cranberries bring a soft, tart sweetness that lifts the heaviness of the apple and spices, almost like the crisp top note of a winter candle. The thyme adds a gentle, earthy freshness that rounds everything out and keeps the blend from smelling too sugary. Together, they create a scent that feels like stepping into a holiday kitchen: warm apple, creamy vanilla, soft spice, a hint of berry brightness, and a whisper of green herbal notes that make the whole lotion smell more complex, clean, and beautifully balanced.

Adding ginger, nutmeg, sage, and turmeric to your infusion creates a deeper, warmer, and more therapeutic scent profile—like a grounding winter tonic in lotion form. Ginger brings a soft heat and a spicy brightness that energizes the blend, while nutmeg adds a creamy, cozy sweetness that pairs beautifully with apple and vanilla. Sage introduces an herbaceous, calming note that keeps the scent balanced and clean, and turmeric adds an earthy warmth that subtly enriches the aroma without overpowering it.

Together, these botanicals don’t just smell incredible—they work. Ginger and turmeric support circulation and soothe inflammation, nutmeg brings gentle skin-brightening properties, and sage offers antibacterial and toning benefits. The result is a lotion that smells like a warm spiced harvest blend and feels like a nourishing, skin-loving ritual for winter dryness, dullness, and sensitivity.
